ODer
What does ODer mean?
ODer is Roblox slang for an 'online dater,' meaning a player who uses the game mainly to seek romantic or dating-style relationships with other players.
ODer used in a sentence
“The roleplay server got weird when an ODer kept asking everyone to be his in-game girlfriend.”
This example shows the term in context rather than treating the definition as a literal word-for-word substitution. Slang often depends on tone, audience, and the conversation around it.
How do you use ODer?
The term is usually negative. Players use it to call out people flirting or 'dating' in games, and parents and safety groups warn that online dating on kid-heavy platforms can expose young users to risks, including adults seeking contact with minors or pressure to move chats off-platform. Roblox's community standards prohibit seeking romantic relationships and sexual content on the platform.
Where did ODer come from?
The abbreviation comes from 'OD,' short for online dating, a concern Roblox addressed directly when it expanded its rules against romantic content in 2021. Parent-safety guides such as Common Sense Media describe ODers as users looking for romantic partners on gaming and social platforms.

Why are parents warned about ODers?
Because romantic roleplay with strangers can expose children to grooming or pressure to move to private apps.
