Continuing to watch, like, or interact with someone’s social-media content after ending or avoiding direct communication with them.

Orbiting describes staying digitally present around someone without having a real conversation. It may be intentional, habitual, curious, or emotionally confusing for the person being watched.
The term was popularized in online dating writing in the late 2010s. The metaphor compares a person to an object circling nearby without making direct contact.
